A 20′ shipping container is most commonly used for intermodal cargo shipping worldwide. They come in two heights: standard (8ft 6in) and high cube (9ft 6in). Both are 8 feet wide and 20 feet long.

Their robust and weatherproof construction provides various uses other than intermodal cargo. The most common use is for secure storage for farms, restaurants, and other businesses.

The 1,176-1,321 cu. ft. internal space allows creative uses. At the same time, the modular design allows for easy stacking and combining into larger structures. Many storage containers are used for functional structures, from mobile offices and pop-up shops to housing.
